| Daily Drop-in and Crisis Ministry
As well as offering the programs outlined below, The Open Door provides
befriending, prayer ministry, referral counselling and fellowship every
day except Sunday. We minister daily to people of every age and walk
of life. Many are experiencing unemployment, marriage breakdown, abusive
situations, homelessness, illness, bereavement, loneliness and despair. In the midst
of this we have many stories to tell of God's grace and love for His
people. What an opportunity we have to reach out in Jesus' name to all
who come!
Information Center
Looking for a church or programs within the Christian
community? We have a map of Mississauga showing all the churches, colour-coded
according to the denomination, and information folders for each one.
We can also provide you with information on some of the vast resources
available to and within the Christian community - such as camps, retreat
centres, courses, youth groups, mothers' groups, etc.
Food Cupboard
We can usually provide a few days worth of emergency supplies
for those who need it. When someone comes for food, we regard it as
a symptom that something isn't going well for them. We try to befriend
them and find out how we can be of further assistance.
Prayer and Bible Stories
Prayer and bible stories are held on Wednesdays at 12:00
(noon). You're welcome to join in!
Library
We have a good selection of Christian books you may borrow,
free of charge.
Tape Ministry
Music and gospel teaching tapes in many different languages can be
listened to here or borrowed for friends and family.
Chapel
Spend a quiet moment in our peace-filled little chapel in the midst
of a hectic day. People are available to pray with you if you wish.
Intercessory Prayer
Friday mornings we spend in intercessory prayer for the work of The
Open Door and for the city of Mississauga. We open at noon on Fridays.
We also take prayer requests.
Christmas Dinner
The Open Door hosts a free sit-down turkey dinner, followed
by a time of fellowship, a play, and Christmas gifts for those who would otherwise be alone or hungry.
